The Learner Fund, an initiative of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) was introduced in 2014. It aims to provide subsidy funding to support existing staff working directly with children in registered early years services and registered childminders to meet the mandatory minimum qualification requirements which came into effect on December 31st 2016 administer the Learner Fund on behalf of the DCYA.

The autumn 2019 Learner Fund Bursaries, are open for applications from August 19^th to September 27^th at 17.00pm. Details of the bursaries are below:

• Early Years Workers Graduate Bursary

As per previous years, the award must be placed at level 7/8/9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and achieved in the academic years 2013 – 2019.

• Childminder Bursary

Eligible applicants are childminders registered with Tusla and hold a Level 5 or Level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and achieved in the academic years 2013 – 2019.
